The 2027 Jeep Grand Cherokee Is Getting Some Big Upgrades

Hot Springs drivers know the Jeep Grand Cherokee well. It has been a top pick for families and outdoor lovers for years. Now Jeep is making real changes for the 2027 model year. The Trailhawk trim is back. Overland is a new trim. The screens are bigger. And the whole trim lineup is growing. Our team at Chris Crain Dodge Jeep Ram in Hot Springs looked through what Jeep has announced so far, straight from the manufacturer.

A Bigger Trim Lineup

The 2027 Grand Cherokee lineup now includes nine trims: Laredo, Laredo X, Upland, Trailhawk, Overland, Limited, Limited Reserve, Summit, and Summit Obsidian. Laredo and Laredo X sit at the start of the lineup, and both are getting a nice upgrade: a new 10.1-inch touchscreen. Jeep hasn't shared 2027 prices yet. Pricing will depend on the trim and the dealer. Check our new vehicle inventory page or give us a call for current pricing as it comes in.

Trailhawk Returns, Overland Joins the Lineup

The Trailhawk trim is back. Jeep calls it the return of "a Trail Rated favorite." Overland is brand new for 2027. It mixes upscale comfort with real trail-ready gear.

Both trims come with serious off-road parts. Trailhawk carries the Trail Rated badge. Jeep only gives this badge to vehicles that pass its own tests in five areas: traction, ground clearance, maneuverability, articulation, and water fording. Every trim except Laredo and Laredo X comes standard with the 2.0-liter Hurricane 4 Turbo engine. It's paired with a new Gen IV automatic transmission. This engine makes 324 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque. It gets an estimated 21 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. Laredo and Laredo X use a different engine, the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6. It makes 293 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque.

Overland adds a bold front end with bright tow hooks, air suspension, a 2-speed transfer case, black cladding, and 21-inch wheels. Trailhawk and Overland both get the Quadra-Lift Air Suspension System, which Jeep calls class-exclusive. Summit gets it too. This system lowers the vehicle at highway speeds to help with aerodynamics. It raises the vehicle back up on the trail to help clear obstacles. Jeep also offers three 4x,4 systems across the lineup: Quadra-Trac I, Quadra-Trac II, and Quadra-Drive II. A Selec-Terrain system lets drivers pick from five modes: Auto, Sport, Rock, Snow, and Mud/Sand.

Jeep says the 2027 Grand Cherokee can tow up to 6,200 pounds with either engine. Jeep calls this best-in-class. That number matters if you're hauling a boat to Lake Ouachita or pulling a camper into the mountains.

Bigger Screens, Smarter Tech

Jeep is putting a real focus on tech for 2027. Along with the new 10.1-inch screen on Laredo and Laredo X, higher trims can get a 12.3-inch Uconnect 5 NAV touchscreen. It comes with built-in navigation, a SiriusXM trial, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Jeep also offers a 10-inch head-up display and a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster.

Families will like the extra features in the back seat. The rear-seat entertainment screens come with Amazon Fire TV built in, and each screen works on its own. On the Grand Cherokee L (3-row), an available FamCam lets people in the front seat check on kids, pets, or gear in the back. For sound, Jeep offers a McIntosh preamplifier system. McIntosh is a well-known luxury home audio brand. The front-seat occupants get 950 watts through 19 speakers and a 10-inch subwoofer. Jeep says it has the most available speakers in its class.

Safety tech is getting an update too. Hands-Free Active Driving Assist lets drivers take their hands off the wheel in certain conditions, while the system keeps watching to make sure the driver stays alert. A Drowsy Driver Detection system monitors signs that a driver is becoming tired. The UnderPark Assist system continuously finds open parking spaces and monitors them. A 360 camera gives you a full view around the vehicle. A wireless charging pad is also available.

Design Details

The 2027 Grand Cherokee comes standard with bright LED headlights. It also gets silver silk accents, gloss black mirror accents, and available bold paint colors for a fresh look. An available Hands-Free Power Liftgate lets you open the trunk just by moving your foot under the back bumper. It's standard on Overland and Summit, and available on Trailhawk.

Wheel styles change by trim. Trailhawk comes with 18-inch Mid-Gloss Crystal wheels. Limited Reserve comes with 20-inch Black Noise Painted wheels. Overland, Summit, and Summit Obsidian all ride on 21-inch wheels, with Summit Obsidian in a gloss black finish. Jeep's color choices for 2027 cover a lot of ground, from bold colors like Red Hot to cooler tones like High Tide, plus classic black, white, silver, and gray.

Two Row Choices for Every Family

The Grand Cherokee still comes in two sizes. The two-row model seats up to 5 people. It has up to 70.8 cubic feet of cargo space with the second-row seats folded down, or 37.7 cubic feet with all seats up. The Grand Cherokee L (3-row) seats up to 7 people, or 6 people if you choose the available second-row bucket seats. It offers up to 84.6 cubic feet of cargo space with the second- and third-row seats folded down, or 17.2 cubic feet with all seats up. It also offers a power-folding third-row seat. That gives Hot Springs families a real choice: a smaller SUV for daily driving, or a bigger one for road trips, sports practice, and hauling gear.

Why This Matters for Hot Springs Drivers

Hot Springs sits close to the Ouachita National Forest and several lakes. That means towing and off-road ability aren't just nice extras here. They matter. The Trailhawk gives drivers a real Trail Rated option again. The new Overland trim offers families comfort without sacrificing capability. And with a larger standard touchscreen now on the Laredo and Laredo X, even the base trim is getting a real upgrade.
